chapter 5

I woke up the next morning thinking about the wonderful dream I had had the night before of finding my mate. If dreams do come true, then I would love to have that deliciously sexy man as my mate. He had a powerful aura, but it was more than an Alpha or Lycan aura. He is a Lycan that much I can most definitely tell from his scent and color of his wolf's eyes when we kiss and cuddle, but there was something more about him. It was like he wasn’t just a normal Lycan Alpha. I shrug and get out of bed to start my morning routine so that I am not late to training.

Quickly I head to the bathroom and turn on the water in the shower before stripping out my clothes. I pick them up and put them into the hamper before opening the shower door and stepping under the spray. The warm water relaxes my muscles and makes me nice and loose. Grabbing my Dove body wash, I lather my washcloth and thoroughly begin to wash every inch of me then rinse off and get out of the shower. Wrapping one of my towels around my body, I grab another to dry the parts of my hair that got wet then proceed to brush my teeth and head back into my bedroom.

I sit at my vanity and brush my long hair out before braiding it in one big braid going down my back then I head into my drawers and grab underwear, a red sports bra, blue leggings, and a pair of red gym shorts. Once I’m done dressing and putting on my sneakers, I head downstairs to the dining hall and have breakfast. Today wasn’t my day to help so I didn’t have to be up at the crack of dawn. I’m happily eating my eggs and bacon when Zach shows up and for once he doesn’t look happy to see me. Ignoring him, I continue to eat and then take a few sips of my orange juice. “So, you should be pretty proud of yourself Freya.” I sigh before looking up from my breakfast.

“What are you talking about now Zach? And for the record, I’m always proud of myself.”

“Your brother is threatening to Alpha order me to never look or speak to you again. Don't you think that is a little extreme? I mean if we are mates does that mean that we’ll never be able to be together?”

“Zach, first I didn’t tell my brother to do that. Second, if we are mates then I don’t think even an Alpha order can keep us apart. Third, if we are mates, know that I will reject you on site. I have no interest in being tied to you for the rest of my life.”

“What the hell did you just say?” Renee asked when she walked into the dining hall.

“Freya Karlotta Cabrera, tell me I did not hear you say what I think I heard you say?” This time it was my mother speaking. My father was standing next to her, and my brother had just walked in looking confused.

“What did I miss?” says my brother, the clueless wonder.

“Well, your sister here just told Zachariah that if they are mates, she will reject him because she has no interest in being tied to him for the rest of her life.” My brother looks at me with shock and a bit of anger on his face. I roll my eyes at him then mind-link him. “Oh, please brother dear, don’t you dare look at me like you would be happy to have that idiot mated to your darling sister.” I smirk as his face quickly turns to one of disgust then I look at my parents.

“Freya, I know that we have taught you about mates and how important they are to one another. One does not just reject a mate so carelessly. Unless he has done some heinous crime that we are all unaware of then I see no reason why you would reject him.” My father says all of this to me and I know that he is right but the guy is an idiot and a perv. Why would I be with someone that I would always have to wonder if his eyes and dick are wandering elsewhere. I could never trust him and without trust there can be nothing else.

I put my head down and sigh trying to figure out a nice and respectable way of talking without pissing off my parents. “Look, I hear you guys, and you know that I do take the mate situation seriously, but how about we cross that bridge when we get to it. I think I have plenty of time before I even have to worry about who my mate is or isn’t and until then I won’t be thinking about it. I’m more concerned with my training at the moment.”

My answer seemed to appease them for the moment, so I hurry and finish breakfast then head straight to the training grounds. Today I’ll be doing stamina and hand to hand combat training. Mostly this means running a lot and then fighting. After stretching and running five miles in two minutes, which is my best time by the way, I head over to the combat training field and decide to be paired with someone other than Renee. I can’t have what happened yesterday happen again today, besides, I’m tired of holding back because I’m afraid of hurting her. I see my brother and walk over to ask him if he wouldn’t mind sparring with me today.

“Nick?”

“Yeah?” he says to me while looking at some paper that I didn’t see at first.

“Would you do your favorite sister a favor and spar with me today? I can’t deal with having to hold back when I fight with Renee plus I don’t want to accidentally do what I did yesterday again.” He chuckles a little before answering me.

“First of all, you’re my only sister and sibling. Second, I can’t today but we can tomorrow.” I pout and then get curious to know what he is reading.

“What is on that paper that is so interesting big brother?”

“Oh, this is just some Alpha business. Nothing for you to worry about. I need to go talk to dad.”

“If it is Alpha business then shouldn’t I be involved? I am an Alpha even if I won’t be taking over the pack.” I’m starting to get angry. I hate when my brother and father say “Alpha business” like I’m some runt of the litter or something.

“Freya don’t be upset. You know what I mean. Look, I will spar with you tomorrow but for now I really need to go talk to dad about this letter. See if one of the guys or trainers will train with you.”

“Forget it. I’ll just skip practice today. You know damn well none of the guys can handle me and the trainers act like they’ll get in trouble if they go all out with me. Actually, I will go and hit the gym.”
