Caught off guard, Victor stumbled and fell.
Seeing Sean gather me into his arms with such tenderness, Victor gave a faint sneering smile.
He mocked, "Ivy, hiring a bodyguard won't help you. The chairman of this hospital's board is a business partner of mine. He won't listen to you."
On cue, Luna's eyes fluttered open.
Seeing the needle puncture on my hand still oozing with blood, she furrowed her brows, feigning worry.
She gasped, "Mrs. Sullivan… oh, Ivy… you didn't hire some… thug to pick a fight with Mr. Granger just because you dislike me, did you?
"If that's the case… I'd rather just leave…"
She fake-coughed into her hand, putting on a perfect performance of the delicate victim.
Victor immediately pulled her close, tenderly smoothing her hair.
He crooned to her tenderly, "Luna, you're just too kind for your own good! That's why people like her walk all over you! Don't worry, I'll make this right!"
He turned his venomous glare back to me and barked, "Haven't you caused enough trouble?! Don't think you can do whatever you want just because I've been good to you!"
He was the one who had used saving my life as a claim, luring me into a marriage that was nothing but a gilded trap, to get the position he held then.
And he had the audacity to say I had been taking advantage of his goodness?
I retorted, "Victor, you saved my life once. For that, I'll let today slide. But it doesn't mean I'll ever let you control me again!"
I rolled my eyes and turned away. He moved to grab me again, but Sean's security team swiftly pinned him to the floor.
I hurriedly told the medical team to rush to attend to Belle.
After a battery of tests and an urgent, all-night conference call with experts across the globe, the lead doctor's tense expression finally relaxed.
The doctor told me in an earnest tone, "Ms. Sullivan, we've found a treatment for your daughter. However… it requires a bone marrow donor."
I nodded without hesitation and assured, “Yes! I'll do it! Take mine!"
But after testing, my marrow wasn't a complete match.
Suddenly, when I saw Victor being pinned down by the bodyguards, my eyes lit up. Fortunately, he met the matching criteria perfectly.
"What? I'm not donating! I have a company to run! Ivy, you're pure evil!" Victor screamed, thrashing, showing none of the cool detachment he had when demanding my blood for Luna.
The doctor explained helplessly that bone marrow donation would not cause any harm to his body.
But Victor struggled wildly, pulling out his phone to send a message to someone.
I strode over, gripped his chin, and stared into his hypocritical face.
Fury overwhelmed me. I slapped him hard and shouted at him, "This was your own daughter!"
I coldly instructed the doctors to prep for the procedure.
But just as they were about to wheel him away, Victor's parents stormed onto the floor.
His mother Laura shrieked, "Ivy, you witch! You want to kill my son! I'll kill you first!"
She pounded and kicked the hospital room door, screaming for other patients and families to gather around. "Heavens! They're kidnapping my son to steal his marrow! They're trying to murder him!"
The confused crowd began to murmur and point fingers.
A concerned onlooker even pulled out a phone to call the police for her.
Luna helped Victor’s mother Laura Granger up, adding her own crocodile tears to the scene.
I had my guards physically move them away. I locked eyes with Laura and asked, "What's wrong with Victor donating a little marrow to save his own daughter? Otherwise, if you're a match, why don't you donate instead?"
She shrank her neck back, her voice dropping sharply as she spoke.
"It's just a girl! Why all this fuss? It's not worth the trouble. Better to let nature take its course. You can always have a boy next time!"
Furiously, I slapped her across the face a few times.
