Right at that moment, Silas pushed open the door and walked into the room. He immediately came over and asked urgently, "What happened, Arvil?"

"It's nothing." Arvil held up the back of her hand, which was slightly red from the burn, and her voice choked with tears. "I was thirsty, so I asked Daisy to pour me some water, but she didn't hold the cup steady and it spilled on my hand."

Then she quickly added, "Silas, don't blame Daisy. It's my fault for being so useless that I can't even heal from something this minor. Please don't be angry with her."

"Daisy!" Silas's face darkened as he questioned her. "What exactly are you trying to do? Come here and apologize to Arvil."

Daisy looked down at her own palm, which was burned red over a large area, and quietly hid her hand behind her back. Her voice came out flat. "I'm sorry. I didn't hold the cup properly."

Right now, she was more than happy to have Silas focus all his attention on Arvil. When he didn't respond, she pressed her lips together and added, "Should I go get a doctor for you?"

With that, Daisy couldn't wait to get out of that hospital room.

"Stay out of it." Silas glanced at the hand she was hiding and said coldly, "Daisy, I don't want to see you right now. Get out."

That was exactly what Daisy wanted, so she quickly nodded and walked out.

After the door closed, Arvil looked at his tense face and took his hand. Her voice turned soft and understanding. "Silas, I'm really okay. Please don't get mad at Daisy."

Silas looked down at her and said patiently, "Arvil, she's clumsy, and I'm worried she'll do something even stupider. If you want company, I'll get you a werewolf nurse, okay?"

Arvil sighed softly and nodded, looking disappointed. "Silas, I know you're just trying to protect me, and I'll listen to you. But Daisy and I have spent a few days together now, and I've gotten attached to her. Can I see her one last time tomorrow? Just once?"

"Fine." Silas agreed right away this time, and he pulled Arvil close, but his mind seemed to wander.

That night, Daisy was half-asleep when she suddenly felt something cool and smooth spread across her palm. It felt good.

The room was dark and she could barely see anything. She cracked her eyes open just a little and saw Silas's outline.

He was sitting next to her bed with his head down, carefully rubbing something onto her burned palm.

But it was too dark to see his face clearly, and Daisy was too tired to think about him anyway. She fell back asleep.

Silas gently finished applying the healing potion to her hand, then turned on a small lamp by the bed. He looked at Daisy's peaceful sleeping face with focused eyes, and a smile appeared on his lips—one he didn't even notice himself.

The next day, Daisy went with Silas to the werewolf hospital like usual.

Daisy counted the days in her head. She had three days left until her escape, and she needed to find a way to get out of Silas's sight fast.

She followed Silas into the hospital room, but Robert called him away almost immediately. Daisy knew exactly what they were discussing—the forbidden drug they planned to inject her with.

Time was running out.

Daisy was especially distracted today when she heard Arvil suddenly laugh, "Daisy, Silas won't be back for a while. Let me set things straight with you today."

Daisy looked at her but said nothing.

"Don't look so smug at me. Do you really think Alpha Silas could ever love you?"

Arvil's face twisted as she spoke. "You look so pathetic. Let me tell you the truth. You're just my replacement! The only reason Silas is with you is because he needs a human-werewolf hybrid child to break my curse. Otherwise, do you really think the alpha of Bloodmoon Pack would want a lowly human like you?"
