Listening to Lucas Soren's words, I couldn't help but let a smile curl on my lips. He was still as arrogant as he was ten years ago.
He jumped off the helicopter and familiarly ruffled my hair.
"Sophia, it's only been a few years, and you don't even recognize me anymore?"
I pushed his hand away, giving him a cold look.
"So many years have passed, and you still love teasing people."
When we were kids, he always snatched my snacks and messed with my hair. This bad habit still hadn't changed as we grew up.
"I like it. What's wrong with that?"
Lucas smirked, and I clenched my fist to stop myself from punching him.
My brother, Marcus, watched our childish interaction and sighed helplessly. "Stop messing around. Dad is waiting for you in the office."
As soon as Lucas heard this, he immediately dropped his playful demeanor and became serious in an instant.
I also suppressed my smile and followed him to the second-floor office.
Just as I lifted my foot, my wrist was suddenly grabbed.
"Sophia, what's going on? Are you really going to marry him?"
Elias looked shocked, his tone full of disbelief.
I forcefully shook off his hand, then spoke with a hint of sarcasm in my voice. "Elias, please behave yourself. Miss Leah is watching over there. Don't let her get the wrong idea."
Elias subconsciously turned to look at Leah, who stood not far away. So, I took the opportunity to walk quickly into the office.
As soon as I entered the office, I saw Lucas, who rarely had a serious attitude, sitting on the sofa and discussing wedding arrangements with my father in an organized manner.
When he saw me come in, he winked at me discreetly, then continued to communicate seriously with my father.
In just a few days, he had not only prepared expensive gifts, but he had also planned out the wedding venue, guest list, and all the details of the ceremony meticulously, even considering the areas where my father might be picky.
I looked at his serious profile. His features were so exquisite and three-dimensional, like a top-notch piece of art sculpted by an artist. His voice was deep and magnetic, and his hairstyle was perfectly groomed, making him look very serious yet not rigid.
I had to admit he was a rare handsome face in this world.
Watching him communicate so seriously and calmly, I couldn't help but wonder if the rumors of the "crazy rich playboy" in the circle were true.
I knew that I only agreed to his proposal out of spite.
Why did Lucas... prepare so carefully? Could it be that he also had someone he loved but couldn’t have? Was that why he prepared all of these in advance?”
Just as I was thinking about it, my father made an excuse for us to bond and "chased" us out.
"Sophia!"
I had just walked out of the office door when Elias rushed towards me with red eyes, his gaze stubborn.
"This isn't what you really want to do, right? You're just mad at me, so you deliberately went to him?"
Before I could speak, Lucas stepped forward and stood in front of me, raising an eyebrow at Elias.
His presence was very strong and arrogant, yet not frivolous. Even just by standing there could make Elias instinctively stop in his tracks.
It was like a hunting dog meeting a black panther.
This scene couldn't help but make me laugh. Before I could say anything, Lucas spoke first.
"Oh, isn't this Sophia's former personal assistant? How dare you be so rude to your leader?"
Lucas smirked. "I heard you're getting married. Are you inviting us to your wedding to give you more red envelopes?"
Then, with an arrogant tone, he said, "If you need money, work hard to earn it. Don't think about taking advantage of others."
"Of course,” Lucas went on, “if you want to see the world, my wedding with Sophia is in three days. If you want to come, we'll save you a corner."
After Lucas spoke, he snapped his fingers, and a few black Maybachs not far away drove over.
The luxury cars stopped in a row, and the bodyguards and driver of the lead car respectfully got out. Lucas then leaned against the car, reaching out to invite me over.
Elias stood awkwardly in place but still refused to give up. Where did he even get the confidence from to shout loudly to stop me? "Sophia, you can't go with him..."
His voice was full of pain and stubbornness, his eyes staring at me intently.
"You... you don't love him at all; I know it! You're just upset about me calling off the engagement, but you can't be with someone you don't love!"
After listening to Elias, I placed my hand in Lucas's palm without hesitation.
Lucas pulled me to his side, looking at the lost Elias, a smug smile on his lips. "Don't bother us anymore in the future. Go to the hospital when you have time to check your brain. You're talking nonsense to my fiancé, who loves me so damn much."
The next moment, he took me into the Maybach, and the car drove straight out of the Everett family estate.
"Sophia, do you still like it here? I know you hate noise, so I bought a villa on the mountaintop just for us to live in."
Lucas smiled and gestured to the scenery outside, his eyes full of joy.
Watching his happy expression, I hesitated before speaking. "Lucas, if you have someone you like, it's not too late to change your mind now."
The decoration style of this mountaintop villa was particularly exquisite. It was perfect and very thoughtful, and it was definitely not something that could be prepared in three days.
Over the years, Lucas had turned down more business marriages than the people I rejected.
He had never married, and yet, he had secretly prepared all this, so he must have had someone in his heart for a long time.
He was a good person, although we had been arguing and messing around for years. So, I would not want the marriage if it means delaying his lifelong happiness.
Just as I was about to have a serious conversation, he suddenly laughed and ruffled my hair. "Sophia, why are you so silly?”
Then, his voice went a tad bit affectionate. "You would rather think I'm hiding someone else than believe that I've liked you for a long time?"
With a handsome grin, he asked, "What? Do I look so unreliable, so unfaithful?"
Then, to my surprise, he confessed, "I have liked you for many years!"
