Elias' pupils shrank suddenly as he ignored Leah, who was still crying, to run to my side.
"Sophia, with such a bad temper, who would dare to marry you in the future?"
He grabbed my wrist so hard it hurt, and I was about to slap him when I saw him staring at my wrist in astonishment.
"How... how did you get this injury?"
Elias' gaze fell on the hideous scar on my wrist, his tone full of disbelief.
"This looks like a knife wound, when did you..."
"Elias, your fiancé is still sitting on the ground. Instead of worrying about me, you should take care of your own people."
I pushed him away forcefully, my tone as cold as ice when I spoke.
Leah had been holding back her anger for a long time, and she immediately grabbed Elias' arm, her eyes alert as she stared at me.
I coldly glanced at the two of them, then turned and walked quickly towards the family manor's banquet hall.
At the entrance of the banquet hall, several cousins of the Everett family were pointing and exclaiming outside the door, their faces full of amazement.
My brother, Marcus, saw me and quickly pulled me towards the door.
"Sophia, there you are. Dad is looking for you!"
I looked puzzled, but Marcus reluctantly pointed to the driveway outside the manor.
A convoy of more than a dozen black Bentleys lined up in a long line, with a helicopter hovering in the air. They were all orderly carrying gilded gift boxes into the banquet hall.
The convoy passed through the manor's tree-lined avenue, and the gift boxes were carried into the banquet hall one by one, creating a spectacular scene.
I walked towards the banquet hall, following the direction of the gift boxes. Under the crystal chandelier in the center, there were top limited-edition jewelry, manor contracts, and even several stacks of sealed stock certificates, all piled on top of each other with cash checks underneath.
"Elias, did you prepare all of these for me?”
Leah's exclamation came from behind me as she stared at the valuable items in the hall, her eyes shining as if she wanted to devour them.
"I love you so much, Elias. You are so good to me!"
She excitedly threw herself into his arms, laughing with her mouth wide open and her eyes wide and greedily looking at these expensive gifts.
I turned around in astonishment, not knowing when these two had followed us. They even shamelessly thought that these were related to them.
Elias looked at the pile of gift boxes almost reaching the ceiling, with his brows furrowed tightly.
He had only planned to have a simple ceremony with Leah, and he hadn't prepared any decent wedding gifts at all.
Besides, he had just established himself in the remote market and didn't have the ability to come up with such valuable gifts.
In this circle, there was only one person who could mobilize a helicopter to deliver gifts and had assets worth billions.
Lucas Soren, the heir of the Soren Investment Corporation.
But why would he send so many things to the Everett Manor?
Could this grand wedding gift be...
Elias forcefully suppressed his speculation and grabbed Leah's hand that was reaching for several jewelry boxes.
"These... weren't prepared by me."
Leah was stunned, and she frowned unhappily, unable to even manage her expression.
"Huh? Not for me?"
Elias looked at Leah's displeased expression and suddenly felt like he had made a mistake. How could this gentle and lovely woman show such a greedy and disdainful expression?
Leah also seemed to realize this and quickly grabbed Elias's sleeve, whispering softly, “Knowing how you work so hard to earn money, I just felt sorry for you since you prepared so many gifts for me.”
She then feigned innocence and asked, "Could it be that Mr. Everett prepared them for you? After all, you are his adopted son, and adopted sons must prepare gifts for their weddings, right?"
Elias didn't respond, but his hand hidden in his suit sleeve clenched white.
If Elias wasn't brain-dead, he would know that the fact that my father hadn't abandoned him and left him with nothing was already a sign of him trying to keep their decades-long relationship.
Otherwise, he wouldn't be able to survive after daring to break off the engagement with me.
Despite seeing Elias's bad complexion, Leah continued to ask, seemingly unable to understand the color on his face.
"Why don't you confirm with Mr. Everett?"
It was such a stupid question that even I found it funny. So, as I leaned against the side door, I couldn't help but laugh.
I shrugged, mocking disdainfully, "Do you really think you're Cinderella? Miss Leah, your fiancé is not a prince. He can't even afford one of the cheapest things right now."
Suddenly, the sound of a helicopter roared in the air, and the wind from the propellers stirred the curtains in the banquet hall.
I looked up and saw the helicopter slowly descending, the door opening to reveal Lucas Soren's familiar and rascally face.
With a wide grin, he yelled:
"Sophia, your fiancé is here to bring you a wedding gift!"
"How about it? Is it enough?"
"If it's not enough, just add more. Tell me what you like!"
