Yash was taken aback.
Sean looked confused. "Dad, why did Mom leave the group chat? Isn't she always the one who worries about me the most?"
A strange feeling rose in Yash's chest.
He sensed something was off with Mia.
Indeed, the old Mia would have repeatedly confirmed his safety through their mental link, even if he was just ten minutes late getting home. But now, she seemed indifferent to their son calling someone else Mom?
Seeing that, Yolanda smirked and said, "Women can be like that when they're jealous. Alpha, if you're worried about Mia getting upset, you can just remove the video from the group chat. I'll explain everything to everyone."
Mia is definitely up to something. Charles was certain. She's playing hard to get. Once she sees your post on Instagram, she'll come rushing in like before.
Charles believed in possessiveness and was sure no one could tolerate their partner and child being coveted by another.
Yash, however, frowned and retorted, "I'm not worried about her! The more she acts like this, the less I'll indulge her!"
With that, he not only acknowledged Yolanda's identity in the group but also posted a picture of the three of them on Instagram, captioning it, "What's more precious than gifts is the time spent together as a family!"
Every word felt like a provocation, and he was certain Mia would break down upon seeing it. She cared too much about how the pack viewed her. How could she tolerate her position being so easily replaced?
Then he would deal with her properly!
When Mia saw the post, she immediately blocked Yash.
She refused to waste another moment on someone unworthy.
Three days later.
Yolanda was discharged from the hospital.
Yash brought her home under the pretext that she had no one to take care of her.
"Yolanda's foot is injured. It's inconvenient for her to live alone, so she'll be staying with us for a while."
As if afraid Mia would object, Sean hurried over and stood protectively in front of Yolanda.
"Mom, just agree! Ms. Meyer is really nice to me. I don't want to leave her."
Mia smiled faintly.
She didn't object. Instead, she kindly suggested, "Sure, why don't you stay in my room? I'll be in the study for now."
Yash had trouble sleeping, so for the past two years, they had been sleeping in separate rooms.
For some reason, even though he wanted her to agree, seeing her so generous and considerate left Yash feeling uneasy.
He had prepared for her to react hysterically, rehearsing in his mind countless times how to suppress her resistance.
Yolanda's eyes lit up, ready to agree, but Yash said sternly, "No need for that. Yolanda can stay in the guest room on the first floor. Your room is still for you."
With that, he took Yolanda to arrange things.
Although Yash didn't let Yolanda stay in Mia's room, once Yolanda moved in, he and Sean also relocated to the first floor, claiming it was for convenience since there were no servants at night to care for Yolanda.
The three of them often locked themselves in a room, laughing and joking, while Mia felt nothing at all.
That afternoon, she sat in the living room reading the newspaper.
Yash approached her curiously, asking, "When did you become interested in Ms. Lambert?" In his mind, since becoming Luna, she had always focused on the pack's logistics and the education of their child.
The newspaper featured military news about a territorial conflict between two packs at the border.
Mia replied coolly, "Nothing much. Just browsing."
After saying that, she turned off the TV and went upstairs.
Yash felt a bit taken aback but didn't get angry. Instead, he was filled with confusion.
After all, if it had been the past, she would never have been so cold towards him.
She had always been warm, making small talk even when there was nothing to say, claiming it was communication between spouses. But now, she wouldn't even spare him an extra glance.
Recalling how she had refused to accompany their son rock climbing, left the class group, and remained calm about Yolanda moving in, he wondered if...
A ridiculous yet alarming thought uncontrollably surfaced.
He followed Mia upstairs.
He then noticed that the photo wall, once hung beside the spiral staircase, had been removed and replaced with an oil painting.
In the upstairs closet, the clothes, jewelry, and bags he had given Mia were all gone, leaving the room feeling empty. Even their wedding photos had been replaced with solo portraits.
Yash's expression darkened.
"Mia, where are the things from the closet?"
Mia replied coolly, "Winter is coming, and the elderly and children in the pack need winter clothes. The food situation needs improvement too, so I sold everything to raise funds for them."
Yash had always known Mia engaged in charity work, but he hadn't expected her to sell the things he had given her.
Hadn't she always valued those items? Didn't she see them as proof of their love?
"What about the photo wall by the staircase?"
"There's too much to do around the house. I can't manage it all during the day. The photo wall collects dust and needs constant cleaning, so I took it down."
Yash frowned.
She can't be thinking of leaving, can she? Charles's voice held uncertainty.
Once that thought took root, it consumed his mind.
Yash shook his head violently. No way, they had held a bonding ceremony under the Moon Goddess's witness. She was his Luna! She couldn't leave him unless death separated them.
But as he turned, his steps felt inexplicably heavy.
