Caleb felt something wasn’t right. His gut twisted as he frowned and asked, “Do you have any idea where she went?”

The doctor shook her head and answered, “I’m very sorry, Mr. Morgan, but we really don’t know where your wife went. However, I did notice she had a suitcase with her when she left. She’s no longer in the room. It’s possible she went home.”

The word suitcase hit Caleb like a punch to the chest. Something was off.

He hung up, grabbed his coat, and rushed out the door.

Lila came out holding a bowl of fruit salad and looked surprised when she saw Caleb by the door.

“Caleb, where are you going? I thought you were staying for dinner.”

He shook his head and said, “I can’t. Something came up. You stay and rest, okay? Don’t forget to eat.”

After that, Caleb hurried out and shut the door behind him. Lila immediately called Lucas to ask if something had happened at the company.

Lucas told her everything at the company was fine. That was when Lila figured out Caleb had rushed off because of me, and she angrily hurled the fruit salad to the floor.

Back at home, Caleb rushed in and called out, “Emilia, I’m home!”

Caleb didn’t hear me answer, so he started going through the house, calling out, “I know you’re mad, but you just had the surgery. You need to rest.”

He searched the entire place. Still no sign of me. What he did find was an empty vanity, a cleaned-out closet, and nothing left except his own suits.

Caleb dropped to the floor.

“No. No way. Emilia loves me too much to just leave.

“She has no one else. Where could she even go?”

In the first year of our marriage, my parents died in a car accident.

When I went to identify their bodies, I broke down so many times I fainted. It was Caleb who carried me, who held me up and helped me through it.

The night after the funeral, I couldn’t sleep. I clung to him, sobbing, “You’re all I have left.”

He held me too, his voice shaking as he whispered, “I’ll love you forever. Always.”

Back then, I looked into his eyes under the moonlight and saw nothing but pain and promise.

And in that moment, I truly believed we’d be together forever.

I never doubted his love. But that love changed. Faster than anyone expected.

Maybe that was exactly why Caleb became so sure I’d never leave.

So when Lila came back, he started testing my limits again and again.

And every time I stayed, he pushed a little further.

He thought I stayed because I had no one else. But he was wrong.

I stayed because I still loved him. Not because I had no one.

And when that love finally ran out, I walked away without hesitation.

Between the two of us, the one who couldn’t let go was never me.

Caleb picked up his phone, just about to call me, when he saw our last chat.

Panic hit, and he rushed to the study. That was when he saw the “gift” I had left for him.

Looking at the box, he smiled and said, “Emilia’s gift is still sitting right here. There’s no way she left me. She probably just felt down after the miscarriage and decided to take a little trip.

“She really should’ve waited until she felt better, though. Oh well, I’ll pack a bag and go join her soon.”

Comforting himself with that thought, Caleb smiled and opened the gift box. Right there on top was a single document.

Divorce Agreement.

My signature was already on it, and I had even stamped it for him.
